Shopping Guide Big Sale Starts Today: The English Dept

Posted by Marjorie Skinner on Fri, Jun 22 at 2:41 PM

The English Dept. (724 NW 23rd), the sweet boutique owned by Elizabeth Dye and Joy Cohen, is pulling up stakes and moving—don’t worry, it’s not far—down to SW 11th and Alder. In the meantime, starting today and through the end of the month, help cut down on their packing by taking advantage of the storewide 50% off (!) sale (excluding bridal). And remember, the early bird gets the cutest worm.

Misc. Naomi Campbell for… Dunkin Donuts?

Posted by Marjorie Skinner on Thu, Jun 21 at 11:10 AM

The suddenly PR-savvy Naomi Campbell, well known for her diva antics and violent outbursts, is cashing in on her bad reputation: Earlier this week she shot a commercial for Dunkin Donuts in which she has one of her famous freakouts, which involved on of her shoes going through a window, while meanwhile another woman sipping some kind of Dunkin Donuts frozen drink (?) remains calm. It apparently just shot on Monday, so it’s not up on You Tube… yet.

Fashion Anna Cohen and Sameunderneath to Show in Portland Fashion Week

Posted by Marjorie Skinner on Tue, Jun 19 at 10:33 AM

This year Portland Fashion Week is going to try to get some attention from the major fashion press, using what our region currently has as a foothold: the ethical fashion movement. Timed to happen in mid-October, after LA Fashion Week wraps and the press is still on this side of the country, two local lines have been committed to show during the week, both of whom are well known for their commitment to sustainable design and production: Anna Cohen and Sameunderneath. More news as it develops.

Men's On the Street Fashion for Men Only

Posted by Marjorie Skinner on Mon, Jun 18 at 5:45 PM

Guys (or anyone with an interest in menswear) who are fans of blos like The Sartorialist will be happy to know that there’s a new blog chronicling on-the-street looks: for men only. Premiering tomorrow, Amanda Brooks’ In Her Eyes column will focus on “effortless” male style in the online pages of Men’s Vogue—effortless meaning it should feature guys whp aren’t trying to be all fashiony, just lookin’ hot. Which is how most guys actually want to dress, because in most cases fashiony men’s fashion is nothing short of hilarious. Her first subject, according to Style.com’s Style File blog, is set to be RayBans.
