I pride myself as a pretty good gift giver. I tend to lean more towards giving things to do, like a cooking class or tickets to a show, or something that brings about creativity, like art supplies or a knitting class. This year my creative gift pick is either a subscription to Make or Craft Magazine, or even both.

Each magazine is packed full of fun projects to try. Make is a little more techie than Craft, but very doable nonetheless. This month’s issue has 31 projects including how to take infrared photos and how to make a solar-powered xylophone. Craft’s 33 project issue gives you instructions on how to make a modern heirloom quilt and an optical-illusional mirror. The magazines make great gifts since they stand the test of time by offering projects that are not just trendy, but educational and useful as well!
