There are sales happening all over town right now (add to the list: Moxie and Pin Me). But beyond the stores, don’t miss the sample sale of Anna Cohen apparel happening Sat (10 am-4 pm) and Sun (11 am-3 pm) to snag some gear from one of Portland design’s biggest rock stars. The studio is at 323 NE Wygant, #204.

It’s January, which means sales are sprouting up like daisies. Today’s tip: Bubble Boutique (1238 NW Glisan) is making room for spring arrivals by offering 20-60% off all winter merchandise. This is, in my opinion, probably the best time of year to shop, from a Portland perspective. We’ll won’t totally shed our winter gear until after April, and now’s the time to swap out your winter coat if you’re getting bored with wearing it every day, stock up on all things sweatered, thick tights for when the ones you bought in September get snagged in March, etc. Meanwhile, Spring arrivals are easy to mix into your layered Portland uniform until the sun comes back.

If you’ve still not witnessed the match made in heaven that is Frocky Jack Morgan’s move into Flutter (3948 N Mississippi), tomorrow night is a perfect opportunity. The theme is Mrs. Robinson—they’ll be playing The Graduate and serving mulled wine and popcorn, and the shop will be dotted with models of a certain age (including Frocky designer Julia Barbee’s own mother). Stop in tomorrow between 5 and 9 pm to check the festivities and browse the astonishing store, carrying everything from taxidermy to fine soaps, made all the more enchanting Barbee’s Frocky Jack Morgan corner. (And heads up to the fellas, there will be menswear under Flutter’s roof come March.)

As you guys already know, I am a huge fan of Marimekko’s graphic textile patterns, so you will not be surprised to see that I am excited about Reprodepot.com’s sale on all Marimekko fabrics and goods. The fabrics are perfect for reupholstering furniture or stretching for a fabulous wall hanging.
Here are a few of the sale patterns:

The sale is going on now through Jan. 15th.
Two Winter sales kick off this Thursday, one where the discounts are really needed: Mario’s (833 SW Broadway, plus Bridgeport Village) is offering savings of up to 60% off on men’s and women’s fall collection clothing (strike now, because sweater season is still less than halfway over). Meanwhile, the already pocketbook friendly Frumoasa Boutique (919 NW 23rd) is offering 40-50% off their selection of handbags, jewelry, bath and beauty products, and millions of other small gift-y items. Sale runs through Sunday.

If you were privy to the lovely presentation of Moth Love in November, you may have noticed the pieces from the show slipping onto the racks at Seaplane (827 NW 23rd) and Denwave (811 E Burnside). If you’ve been holding out on bringing home a moth of your own, now is the time to strike: designer Gretchen Jones has just marked down the remaining pieces by 30%.
