Pinkham Millinery (515 SW Broadway) is known locally and nationally (see the interview with Dana Pinkham in the March issue of Nylon) for her exquisite hats for men and women. Like all good investment pieces, they last, and also like all good investment pieces, they don’t come cheap. Excellent news, then, for those of us who aren’t married to hedge fund managers: Next weekend, Fri-Sat 4/11 & 12, from 12-4 pm, there will be a sale with 25-75% off Fall felt styles, Spring straw styles, samples, and discontinued designs. And of course, champagne. Oh, and if you are living on the upper crust, perhaps you’re attending the Kentucky Derby this year? If so, you need a hat, and Pinkham, due to demand, has been coming up with designs especially for this purpose. But, orders must be place by April 19th, call 796-9385 for an appointment.

If you, like me, are "hat curious" but not necessarily a hat person, Dana is super friendly. I went in there and literally had to ask "so, uh, how do I even wear a hat? Where on my head should it sit?" And she was very nice and helpful even though it was probably obvious I wasn't about to drop $400 on a hat.
Maybe someday!
