Back in July, we announced a contest in conjunction with the style team behind Fat Fancy (think underground shopping parties where the inventory includes castoffs from Beth Ditto's wardrobe, and pieces made by Leslie Hall of Leslie & the Lys) for a head to toe makeover, and today we have the winner's results!:
Meet Amy Embler. Two weeks ago she was just a regular, cute girl. Then the ladies of Fat Fancy worked their magic. Clothes, hair, makeup!
See her transformation after the jump.
First, hair. Amy let stylist Alison May do whatever she wanted. The result?
It is now 80s punk-rock hair, and I totally dig it!
Next, outfit.
The ladies made me feel so comfortable in my own skin. If something did not fit, they would just say, get it the hell outta here never any comments like, oh, if only you did not have such large breasts, butt, legs, which I have gotten elsewhere.
Finally, makeup and photos.
Kristin Goodman, the makeup artist, used all MAC products, which I love. I looked in the mirror and saw a new person. I was nervous about the pictures. But photographer Kina Williams made me feel totally comfortable and at ease. When I saw the photos for the first time I was ecstatic!

I have wasted too much time criticizing myself, and comparing myself to women I will never be, instead of focusing on what I have to offer. The ladies of Fat Fancy not only made over my face, hair, and clothes; they made over my soul. I feel different, and I like it.
Fat Fancy’s next sale is this weekend! Visit their Myspace page for details.
