First Thursday Agenda

Posted by Marjorie Skinner on Thu, May 7, 2009 at 10:04 AM

It's First Thursday again, already! That means—mm, well that means a lot of things (art, lack of parking, overcrowding at the bar), but for the purposes of this blog it means an excellent excuse to get down to some stores. Three I'd like to highlight:

Narcisse (1015 SW Washington, 5-7 pm): This West End store had a rough year, suffering a winter flood not long after first opening its doors. It's a good sign they're getting back on their feet with this, their inaugural First Thursday fête. Sip beer and wine while perusing the delightfully romantic grownup goth girl merchandise—all regularly priced pieces will be 20% off for the occasion. Plus, local jeweler Brehan Todd, newly available at the store, will be in attendance:

Radish Underground (414 SW 10th, 5-9 pm): Right around the corner, this local design-supporting shop is quickly becoming a staple. This month's featured talents hail from Hood River: Jennifer Thomas' JET Designs (including one-of-a-kind pieces exclusive to the store) and visual artist Leif Ilvedson's show of sketches and oil on canvas titled "Fashion Fetched." Plus, piano music by Alia Farrah and a window installation that features the mini golf hole from John Bacone (in case you missed it at Holocene's last mini-golf invitational)—if you get a hole-in-one, take 25% off your purchase, but even if you don't, take 10%!

• Folly (1005 NW 16th, 6-9 pm): As mentioned before, it's Folly's first anniversary, too.

Happy wanders...
