Death by Calendar: A Million Bazillion Katrillion Events to Shop in the Impending Future

Posted by Marjorie Skinner on Fri, Dec 4, 2009 at 11:47 AM

Just thinking about all of the events happening in shops across the city in the coming weeks makes me feel like I had better limber up before leaving the house. Deep breath. Choose wisely:

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 4 (TODAY!)

Lights on Broadway: NE Broadway kicks off a weekend of sales today, with a grip of participating businesses including Halo Shoes, Hot Box Betty, Oh Baby!, and Soho Boutique (1605 NE Broadway), which will also be hosting a trunk show of Deborah Funches jewelry. And speaking of Halo, their shipment of 10 styled of Italian boots was due to hit downtown pop-up Workroom719 today, so if you've yet to check out these temporary boutiques in the thick of downtown, there's your excuse! As an added bonus, Larry Olmstead of Entermodal is making his amazing line of leather bags and accessories in the space until the 11th.

Flutter's December trunk shows: Tonight is the first of four trunk shows at Flutter in December, kicking off with Paper Treasure jewelry, followed by Brehan Todd on Saturday (12/5), Urchin Designs on Thursday Dec 10, and Gossamer jewelry on Wednesday Dec 16, all from 5-8 pm at the shop.

Butterscotch Open House: Butterscotch is awesome for cards, paper, cute stocking stuffers, and baby/kid stuff, and today until 6 pm and tomorrow from 11 am-4 pm you can get discounts on most purchases over $5!

Theo Trunk Show at Visage: Stop in to Visage before 5 pm today to check out frames from Theo. Purchase a Theo frame during the event and get 20% off the lenses for it.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 5

Agave Denim Outlet's First Annual Winter Warehouse Sale: Road-trip it up to Ridgefield, WA for 50-80% off designer denim for men and women at the Agave warehouse from 10 am-5 pm,, and knock off an additional 10% if you donate a pair of used, clean jeans to donate to the homeless.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 6

Open Studio and Jewelry Sale at Palladium Inc: Venture ever so slightly off the grid for Palladium's open studio/sample sale, including pieces from local fave Katy Kippen's grayling, from 10 am - 6 pm.

Dana Herbert Sample Sale: Drop by 2538 NE Broadway Ste A between 11 am-5 pm today for locally designed bags and scarves from Dana Herbert.

Laurelhurst School's Winter Artisan Bazaar: Grab up local goods and food while helping to fund programs at the Laurelhurst School from 9 am-4 pm today.

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 8

Mink Holiday Party: SE Hawthorne's Mink is partying from 4-7 pm tonight with discounts when you donate gently worn clothing for Dress for Success, plus fashion advice and, obvs, gobs of clothes.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 10

Amai Unmei Turns One: Celebrate the first year of Amai Unmei's existence from 5-9 pm with 10-50% off merch, and bring a canned food donation for the Oregon Food Bank while you're at it and be entered in a drawing.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 12

R.A.W. Holiday Trunk Show: For a truly amazing gift, come down to the R.A.W. studio to see the latest creations of hand-dyed and artfully rusted lingerie today and Sunday from 12-5 pm.

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 18

The Row Trunk Show at Marios: Sure the idea of the Olsen twins going into high fashion was funny at one time, but then their line of leather leggings and drapey pieces started being snatched up by celebs and other high rollers. Marios is hosting a trunk show of the line, The Row, today from noon-6 pm in the downtown location.
