As previously, briefly mentioned, Ford tapped Local35 as the retailer for a pop-up shop in the old NW Music Millennium (801 NW 23rd). The store's Justin Machus describes what you'll find there: "I am featuring brands that I usually carry, but am giving them more attention. The overall feel will be a little more sporty than Local35. Brands like RVCA, Wesc, insight, Quiksilver, happy socks, friend or foe, g-shock and more." There will also be live music curated by Spin (local artists, though), Jones Soda samples, a taxi service in which you can get a lift in one of the Ford Fiestas this whole thing is about pushing to several locations around town, like Doug Fir. They're calling it the Fiesta Lounge. I'm interested in seeing what the Local35 crew's done with the merchandising, so I plan to head down on my lunch break tomorrow. (The soft opening was last weekend but tomorrow is the official start date. It will be open Thurs-Sun through August 7.) I'll let you know how it goes.
They're hitting the 30s and 40s market in Portland hard with this car. Beautiful photo, regardless.
