Codeword: "FASHION"

Posted by Marjorie Skinner on Wed, Sep 22, 2010 at 2:33 PM

The Mercury's review of Portland Center Stage's Sunset Boulevard will hit the streets and go live on the internets in a matter of hours, and let's just say our critic questions some of its essential qualities. Like existence. However, if you're undeterred by "jazz-handsing" and other "flat-out goofy" theatrical moments (hey, I'm not), here's a little tip: When purchasing tickets online or over the phone, use the promotion code "FASHION" to knock an extra $5 off the price, and if you hit the theater on Sept 29, Oct 6, or Oct 13, you'll get the added entertainment of a pre-show vintage fashion show featuring clothing from the age of silent films up to the advent of the talkie, presented by some of Portland's many killer vintage shops, like Ray's Ragtime and Bombshell. Because say what you will about the fading beauty of Norma Desmond, but she never lost her style.
