Fresh face Janine Ellenbeck is making a splash as one of the newest local designers to watch in Portland. Her senior collection, titled "Panoramic," was a definite standout at The Art Institute’s annual Spring Fashion Show [Full disclosure: Kayla is also a student at Ai, but as I tweeted Saturday night after the show, I totally agree.—Marjorie] . Graduating from AI this spring, Ellenbeck drew inspiration from the 1940’s art scene, especially from one of her favorite artists, Georgia O’Keefe. However, the elaborate attention to detail and the sophisticated tone of the collection is surely a style all her own. Ellenbeck showcased her handiwork through details like an amazing chunky copper necklace and delicate hand painted prints. The four-piece collection comprised of sultry sherbet, burnt orange, rich cream, and grey fabrics all came together beautifully, and left me wanting to see more!
