Alley 33 Fashion Show Recap

Posted by Kayla Rekofke on Mon, Jul 25, 2011 at 5:01 PM

The sun was shining down on Portland’s most fashionable crowd for the highly anticipated Alley 33 fashion show on Saturday. 33rd Ave was transformed into an ultra-chic urban runway. Emcee Alicia Wood, clad in her signature platform kicks, shut it down on the mic while introducing each of the 19 local designers. A few of my favorites were: J. Calderon menswear’s separates, tailored to perfection. Crisp summer shorts, jackets, and pants were suited for a dapper Portland gentleman. Michelle Is Well captivated the crowd with striking silhouettes set off by pops of neon sorbet, rosy red, and a fierce geometric print skirt. Moonwoods Eyewear debuted fresh frames custom made from (you guessed it) wood. Jitterbuggin’ Clothing Co. sent their 50’s inspired gals down the runway in fabulous retro printed dresses, and a lust-worthy striped high-waisted bikini. Amai Unmei closed the show with a luscious range of gorgeous berry hued dresses, but it was the stunning finale gown that sent the crowd into a thunderous roar of applause. Exquisitely constructed and draped like a dream, this dress was divine! The first annual event was a definite success; I can’t wait to see more from the lovely ladies of Alley 33—Mag-Big, Siren Nation, and Breedom Public Sewing House.
