Vacationing fashion writer Marjorie Skinner just interrupted her time off to ask that we post something about this upcoming show at Stumptown Coffee—since the vacation cone of silence isn't violated lightly, consider this a strong recommendation. This weekend, local print studio Pattern People opens an exhibit called Collision: "Inspired by parquetry, natural textures and fibers are inlaid within geometric compositions creating intricate, layered imagery. Opposites attract as soft knits gain structure, while marble and wood take on a quilt-like effect."

Pattern People is a Portland, Oregon based surface design studio founded by Claudia Brown and Jessie Whipple Vickery who came together with a shared love of pattern and adornment. Bringing a modern touch to the rich history of surface design, the studio creates prints and illustrations for fashion, beauty and interiors clients. Projects range from hand painted murals to beauty packaging for companies such as Estée Lauder, Stussy and Nike.

The show opens this Sunday from 6-8 pm at the Stumptown Coffee on Belmont (3352 SE Belmont)
