How fitting that the 7th annual English Dept. fashion show took place on the 40th wedding anniversary of designer/owner Elizabeth Dye’s parents. Brides to be, fashion lovers, and curious onlookers alike all gathered at The Cleaners to see the latest bridal fashions. Bellini’s flowed and the décor was simply beautiful. Ink & Peat provided the bouquets, while Geranium Lake constructed the gorgeous archway. Now for the dresses: short, lacey, long, and flowy a style for every kind of bride was shown. A dear friend of mine who attended the show and is planning a beach wedding noted that the Nicole Miller gowns were among her favorites. The fit and overall feel was chic, understated and really allows the bride shine. My heart skipped a beat for every Elizabeth Dye dress, especially the finale piece called the Two if by Sea gown. A seafoam green confection with layers of luscious tulle and a fitted bodice that would make any girl feel like a princess on her big day. Gorgeous pieces by Jenny Yoo, Ivy & Aster, Love, Yu and Siri filled the runway, ranging from classic and elegant to unexpected and fashion forward. Check out the lovely photographs taken by Lisa Warninger below. Stop by the English Dept. located at 1128 SW Alder Street to shop the looks right off the runway, call to schedule an appointment on the weekend or walk-in Tuesday-Friday.
