Favorites from The Nordstrom Spring Preview Show

Posted by Marjorie Skinner on Mon, Mar 5, 2012 at 1:43 PM

Once a year, Nordstrom invites members of the press to tag along with the impressively heeled Lake Oswego set (at least that's where I assume they come from) at their Spring Designer Preview Show—actual tickets go upwards of $100—which took place this past Thursday at the Portland Art Museum. As has become tradition, there we were treated to endless rounds of free hibiscus champagne cocktails, and a close-up preview of Spring merch from the uppermost tier of designer lines: Burberry Prorsum, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana—all the heavy hitters. While I have seen with my own eyes people placing orders for fabulous items with four-digit price tags, this is strictly a night of fantasy for us media types, and a fine fantasy it is, especially since Nordys and the big names emblazed on $3,000 leather jackets are typically out of the purview of my coverage.

Instead of taking notes on clothing that was reviewed to death after its actual debut this past fall, I simply and gleefully mark the looks I like the best and enjoy one of the most polished runway shows in a Portland year. Here were my favorites from each designer showcased:

Burberry Prorsum
  • Juan Kis for Team Photogenic
  • Burberry Prorsum
