This Week's Style Events

Posted by Marjorie Skinner on Thu, May 31, 2012 at 10:29 AM

In this week's paper I traded in my semi-regular weekly calendar of all things local fashion and retail in favor of cramming in an extra pretty picture or two, but if you've got some dollars burning a hole in your pocket, fear not. I made a special calendar just for the internets:

THURSDAY, MAY 31

Mario's unleashes its Women's Summer Sale with deals on dreamy lines from Alexander McQueen to Christian Louboutin, Lanvin, The Row... drool.

—The Darling Buds of May pop-up at 220 Salon bids a fond farewell, with a pop-down party that marks the last chance to shop Clever Nettle, Summerland, YO VINTAGE! Seaecho, AK Vintage, Better Late Than Never and Pattern People in the same place at once, with 20% off most merchandise, special guest vendor The Reliquary, drinks, and complimentary hair color chalking! 6-9 pm.

FRIDAY, JUNE 1

Ellington Handbags is having a two-day warehouse sale, Friday 10 am-4 pm and Saturday 10 am-2 pm, with up to 90% (!!!) off original prices on handbags, totes, travel bags, and wallets. Head to the Ellington Warehouse at 2034 NW 26th to take advantage.

—The Ford Building is having an open-studios party, where Sara Barner will be holding court in Suite 100 from 5-7 pm. Also check out the new shared space of Kate Towers and Fieldwork Flowers in #140, then come back on Saturday from 11 am-6 pm for Barner's studio sale, featuring new pieces and deeply discounted samples of her leather and jewelry work.

IDOM is pitching in on former Pin-Me owner Sally Schwartz's effort to raise funding for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society by gathering sponsors to support her during an Olympic distance triathlon. From 5-8 they'll be serving up baked goods and other treats while donating 20% of total sales to the cause.

—Talented teen photographer Nicholas Wilson debuts his first public photo exhibit at Haunt, where it will reside for the month with an opening reception Friday from 7-9 pm.

—Daisy Rock and Rubygirl will be at Union Rose—I told you this, remember?

SATURDAY, JUNE 2

—Backtalk makes it's official debut—I told you about this, too.

—The Tanner Goods flagship store celebrates year-one success with an anniversary party from 3-7 pm, with an inhouse exhibit of well-loved Tanner products, a "store within a store" version of the Woodlands Annex, and more.

—THE MAJOR SHOW OF THE WEEK! The Art Institute's graduate show!!!

See you out!
