Wanderlust Settles Down

Posted by Marjorie Skinner on Mon, Jun 18, 2012 at 10:21 AM

My parents were in town this past weekend, which means I had to explain certain local situations, such as why a steady stream of 99% white, naked people were streaming past their hotel on bicycles, and the fact that, yes, while Portland is well known for its food carts, there is also a fierce little contingent of clothing carts like the one parked across the street from last night's restaurant. One of the originals to pick up this idea—which must be a permitting dream in comparison to what their food-slinging compatriots go through—is Wanderlust, which has successfully made the transition from offbeat mobility to traditional brick 'n' mortar, trading in a 1969 Cardinal Deluxe travel trailer for 2804 SE Ankeny. (Before you bemoan the loss of quirk, note that they will still be rolling out the cart for events.)

You can check out the new digs at the grand opening party scheduled for 5 pm on July 7, with DJs, beer, and Taco Pedalers.
