Hits of Sunshine: Portland Artists in the Desert

Posted by Marjorie Skinner on Wed, Sep 5, 2012 at 3:29 PM

Heather Treadway and Lisa Schonberg—who you know from Treadway's eponymous clothing line, their former band Explode Into Colors, their current band Secret Drum Machine, and the pages of Tom Tom Magazine, among other things—are going to Joshua Tree next month. I know: good for them. But, they're working! They've been asked to do a month long residency at A-Z West's High Desert Test Sites, "a series of experimental art sites" which "provide alternative space for experimental works by both emerging and established artists." They added a few other collaborators and plan to create an installation and performance that draws on music and fashion. Sounds fun, right? Here's the catch: Money.
