Pity the fool who isn't aware that Portland's own Pinkham Millinery is one of the finest destinations for headwear in all the world. Don't take my hyperbole for it: Designer Dayna Pinkham's work has often graced the pages of international books and magazines celebrating the rarefied art she exemplifies. The latest to do so is Louis Bou’s Couture Hats: From the Outrageous to the Refined which profiles Pinkham as one of only four American milliner's to make the editor's cut. To celebrate the release of the English version of the book, Pinkham is hosting a party and fashion show tomorrow with refreshments and "an intimate show of Pinkham’s couture hats from the last 30 years." Her work ranges from the high drama of the Kentucky Derby to awesomely durable everyday cloches and caps, and are truly one of the wisest investments in local accessories a Portland person could possibly make. Don't miss the shindig at Pinkham HQ (1012 SW Washington) tomorrow 6-9 pm.
