It always seems so sudden, doesn't it? One minute you're smugly enjoying weather that's 10 degrees hotter than your friends in San Francisco, and a week later the Bay looks like a tropical paradise in comparison. VITAMIN D: CHECK. Also helpful in staving off the SADs: new rain gear you love makes dressing for the wet exciting. Kind of. Mostly. A few favorites poking around in the shops:

- Joshua Buck's menswear collections for Chicago Harper/Studio SKB walk a fine line between usability and creativity. Consider the multipurposeness of a pair of pants that make you ultra-visible as a cyclist or ped, are lightweight, water resistant, edgy, and this well tailored.

- Whillas & Gunn: Waxed canvas and easy to keep stashed in your bag/car/office/handy spot. Technically for men but whatever to that.
