Fashion show producer (and MOD contributor) Elizabeth Mollo returns with her annual signature event, Fade to Light, next month—February 27 at the Crystal. A typically loner event during the fashion show dry season, 2013 will see an expansion, with Fade to Light shows scheduled in both February and August. Says Mollo, "Fade to Light aims to not just be a fashion show, but to be an experience that leaves the viewer with a solid understanding of each designer and the collections being shown. Fade to Light is also about fostering creative talent in Portland and helping that talent succeed in the working world of the apparel industry." It'll be interesting to see how that plays out this year, which sees a de-emphasis on integrating live music, and which might take a cue from last year's video bio element. Either way it's a fun line-up that includes repeat customers like Ms. Wood along with newer names on the scene, like Emit, which made a splash with their graphic laser cut designs as one of 2012's downtown holiday pop-up shops. Other participants include Bryce Black, Clair Vintage Inspired, Studio SKB, Chicago Harper, Wandering Muse, and—very interestingly—Gregarious T. Cline for PINO. More publicly know as DJ Gregarious, it looks like the always-thoughtfully-dressed Cline is making a foray into men's accessories in addition to holding down the decks.
