When recently opened Nob Hill boutique Beyond 23rd shuttered it's doors earlier this year, owner Rami Bargoti had no intention of leaving the retail business. Instead he moved a few blocks over to a new spot on 23rd off of Lovejoy, and reopened the shop under the new name Lola and Lucy. In addition a new manager and buyer, Stacey Gatlin, was hired to oversee a shift in the store's merchandise mix from consisting of mostly super sexy, slinky pieces to more grown-up and demure, but still flirty and fun styles. The clothes now range from slightly boho, work appropriate dresses and cardigans, to glam evening wear. The store's highlights include some breezy, playful printed dresses by ANGIE, and one-of-a-kind vegan leather bags by Seattle based Crystalyn Kae. There is also a small, but well curated selection of shoes, consisting mostly of simple, sophisticated pumps. Gatlin points out that they have been increasing the number of pieces produced in the US, and says there are more in Spring, when the store's focus will be on "fun, sexy, feminine dresses and skirts."
