This Weekend's Fashion Events

Posted by Elizabeth Mollo on Thu, Jul 18, 2013 at 2:46 PM

This weekend is packed to the gills with fashion events. Here is a handy guide to help you strategically plan on attending them all:

Friday and Saturday

Kenton and St. Johns Sidewalk Sale

The Kenton and St. Johns neighborhoods are hosting a sidewalk sale put on by the Vintage & Resale Shopping in Kenton & St. Johns, North Portland Community. This sale includes more than 25 shops in the area and will be from 10AM-7PM. The Cathedral Park Jazz Festival is also happening this weekend so be prepared for big crowds and maybe a shortage of close proximity parking.

Saturday

Folly is hosting a trunk show and meet and greet with New York designer and founder of Vespertine Sarah Canner from 1-5PM. Vespertine is a line of fashionable, high-visibility and reflective wear that includes jackets, vests, coats, scarves, and jewelry for female and male bicycle enthusiasts. Light refreshments will be served and you can view and purchase Vespertine's latest collection. Also added to the mix is a feature presentation called "Fashion Fast Forward" about the history of women’s fashion and cycling by April Streeter, author of Women on Wheels, and a fun ride to Folly the day of the event, which you can sign up for here.

Local Love $1 Sale at Red Light Clothing Exchange

The Red Light Clothing Exchange will be hosting a series of $1 sales on their sidewalks throughout the summer and 100% of the money made at each event will be donated to a different locally focused non-profit organization. This time around the money will go to DoveLewis, a non profit organization which provides 24-hour emergency and critical care to animals as well as education and community outreach. The event is from 10AM-12PM and is cash only. Get there early to get the good stuff.
