Still have some shopping to do? Maybe you haven’t rewarded yourself for all your hard work finding perfect gifts in below-freezing weather? Here’s an event for you!
With over 700 local artists and designers featured to date, Mag-Big owner Cassie Ridgway (who's also a newly minted MOD contributor) has mastered the ideal of supporting local design. The creatives of our great city who are currently represented there are too vast to list here, but a few that certainly stand out include clothing from Make it good, Field Day Clothing; perfumes from Imaginary Authors; and Amira Jewelry, Pigeon Heart Jewelry, Dart Heart, and Botanical Bird. The featured artists this month are Brooke Weeber, Daria Tessler, Maryanna Hoggatt, and Rachel Blumberg.
plus, among the diverse selection of locally made goods sits the shop’s very own inhouse line, which is also sold across the country. The Heirloom Collection is all made from dead-stock vintage fabrics, and only available at their shop. Both are designed and manufactured on site, and they’re really excited about their new SS14 collection, called "Pagan Sea Witch" and featuring a collaboration with Foxtail Jewelry. Do yourself a favor and check out the very pretty lookbook, photographed by George Barberis (they fly him over from New York to take gorgeous pics for them).
Ridgway also produces some super awesome local fashion shows, including Alley 33, which happens in the warmer months, and Unmentionable (lingerie, anyone?), set for February 2014. Love and dedication to all things local paid off this year when Mag Big received (cue round of applause) a PFSA award for Best Boutique, SE Portland.
This party is meant to celebrate you as a Portland consumer, a little thank you for being so awesome, so go and graciously accept your free champagne and discounts, and have a jolly good time.
