Stone Cold Fox: A Q&A with Solestruck's Maya Dahlgreen

Posted by Kayla Rekofke on Wed, Feb 12, 2014 at 9:59 AM

As mentioned previously, Solestruck's Portland store is hosting a month-long pop-up shop featuring Los Angeles' Stone Cold Fox, which kicks off tomorrow with a party from 7-10 pm at the store. We spoke to Solestruck's Maya Dahlgreen to find out more about what makes this pairing so special.

Tell me a little bit about what drew Solestruck to feature this brand?

Maya Dahlgreen: Besides the fact that everyone here at Solestruck loves Stone Cold Fox—their branding, their designs, their story, etc.—we always try to get brands or designers that you really can't get anywhere else in Portland. Stone Cold Fox is totally desirable, but totally not attainable if you live in Portland! So we had to bring them in!

What's in store for the opening shin dig?

We really tried to mix it up this time. We have the band Guantanamo Baywatch, a live model, a contest for a prize, margaritas, and of course, amazing clothes!

Since Valentines is all about couples, what is your favorite pairing between a piece of SCF and Solestruck shoes you have in shop?

I think my two favorite together would have to be the boardwalk dress [the white dress below] and the Venus boot! Love a white on white for Valentines!

You recently shot a lookbook for this pop-up, what was the inspiration behind it?

Yes! Well Nick Wilson, the photographer, and I got together and just kinda started tossing around ideas, like how to make modern beach babe vibes, not classic beach babe. We came up with this gold theme, high contrast against the blue water and orange rocks. It kind of just happened, to be honest, and boy did we luck out with the sun.

What's next for Solestruck PDX?

You'll just have to wait and see! (Amazing things, of course.)
