It reminds me of shops in Berlin. I bought two amazing pieces of clothing here by local designer Dawn Sharp. Amazing.

We fashionistas love a good runway show. But after a while, they become routine. Content 09 was a nice jolt to the brain cells: An interesting combination of the visual arts with fashion. It reminds us of what makes Portland's vision of fashion different from other centers of apparel commerce. Kudos to the organizers, "How We Develop" and the participating designers.
I thought the Mountains of the Moon stuff was cute too, at first. I went to their website and they had this simple black, long-sleeved, scoop-necked dress on sale for like $50 bucks so I ordered it and was absolutely horrified when it arrived. The picture on their site shows the dress belted and unbelted and it looks like it has some shape to it, but when I put the thing on it looked like a sack. A potato sack. I ordered a large which according to their size chart should have at least sort worked for me but even a medium would not solve the problem. This dress has no shape. I would even dare to say that it billows out in the middle. I tried belting it and there was just fabric bunching and spilling out all over the place. The scoop neck was also lower in the back than in the front and gaping and billowing all over the place-terrible! I wish I had been able to see from the beginning that Mountains of the Moon is nothing but bland hippie fashion. I am sending that wretched dress back ASAP!

When did it become okay to make a shapeless bag and call it a dress? Anyone with any shape would never wear a lot of these -- they are unflattering. Although there wasn't much to be excited about this week, I still don't know if I would call this the best. A lot of it looks like a home-sewn mess.

Every day I look at what came out on the runway and it gets worse. Except for Day 1, that had to be a joke. The Mountains Of The Moon line looks way too bland. It's like higher-end Wal-Mart apparel. Cohen took a step backwards. What is going on with Portland fashion? Where have all the good local designers gone? I hope the new Portland fashion Synergy group can bring those designers out into the light again. There were some really, really good ones but the Portland fashion week people just never could seem to get their act together.

Wow, I completely disagree. Mountains of the Moon was by far my favorite of the night and is anything from bland! Flirty, feminine designs, the type you never see in eco-fashion. The prints were amazing. It's really difficult to find truly great organic fabrics and they nailed it. I'd never know it was sustainable fashion.
